Shooting the messenger as an aid to ignoring the evidence of an industrial-scale problem

An unpleasant case of shooting the messenger: where has this happened? Why, in the rolling green hills of Carmarthenshire, Wales, where councillors have devolved so much power to officers that they are sidelined in their own council. Talk about democratic deficits! A broken democratic process results in real injustice, real misery, for people with very good reason to complain. The complainants battled on, coping even with multiple arrests as police jumped to conclusions much too fast. Now they have been vindicated by the Public Services Ombudsman for Wales:
